Food Allergy Zone

OK, so now either you or your child has been diagnosed with food allergies. What do you do next? Take a deep breath, relax, and get a game plan. You are not alone. Millions of people have gone through this and millions more are doing so right now. And, we will do what we can to help you!

The links in this section (to the left) can help you educate yourself and take control of the situation. The more you know about something, the less scary it is, and the more in control you will feel. Fortunately there are some wonderful resources and organizations whose mission is to help you. Be careful to use reputable resources. There is so much misinformation floating around.

You will benefit from developing increased patience and tolerance, and learning how to deal with insensitive, ignorant or just plain rude comments. People who do not have personal experience with food allergies will most likely never understand.

While we might expect people who do not know us well to make inappropriate comments, we don’t expect close friends and family members to be insensitive or unsafe. Those who love us are often the ones who upset us the most. The best thing you can do is smile, say a quick prayer for patience, wisdom and guidance, take a deep breath and try to handle the situation as politely and with as much grace as you can.
